Backupbuddy makes everyone’s life a little easier.

BackupBuddy is an amazing WordPress plugin brought to you by the guys over at iThemes. This little gem of a plugin gives you the capability to backup, migrate, and restore sites with a few clicks of the mouse. I use BackupBuddy on a daily basis and it is installed on every WordPress powered site that I create because of it’s ease of use and performance in which I have fallen in love with.

Local development and migration.

BackupBuddy really comes in handy in my new site development process. I develop all of my sites locally on my machine using MAMP and then upload the local site to a testing server for review by my clients. Once the site has been reviewed and any changes have been made, I then upload that site to the main server and take the site live for the client. This development process requires me to migrate my sites multiple times before the site is live for a client. Now If you know how WordPress works you cannot just copy and paste the contents from directory to directory to migrate a site from one server to the next, and that is why I use BackupBuddy. BackupBuddy allows me to create a complete backup of my sites content and database and by using the ImportBuddy tool coupled with it, BackupBuddy allows me to migrate sites from one server to the next in a matter of minutes by using it’s easy step by step guided process. This method has saved me countless hours of migrating sites the old fashioned way and when the process is complete, EVERYTHING WORKS! (which is a lifesaver).

Scheduled backups and off-site storage.

BackupBuddy also gives you the option to schedule backups in any type of time interval or backup type allowing you to do complete or database only backups anytime you want. This feature allows you to have a definite peace of mind knowing your site is being backed up and saved in any manner you see fit. BackupBuddy also has remote storage integration that allows you to link to your favorite online storage service and have BackupBuddy automatically send your backup to the destination of your choice. We all should know how important having backups of our sites on hand is and BackupBuddy allows you to have the resources you need to get a site back up and running. BackupBuddy is a gift from God, so do yourself a favor and invest a few dollars in it to keep yourself from going insane sometime in the near future. (because that will happen, guaranteed)
